Volunteer Position: Adult Public Relations Coordinator

The Alberta High School Rodeo Association is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Public Relations Coordinator. This volunteer position plays a vital role in promoting the AHSRA, engaging with our community, and enhancing the visibility of high school rodeo across Alberta. Let’s showcase the incredible talent, dedication, and spirit of Alberta’s high school rodeo community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a Team of Student PR Officers:
    • Work with the provincial secretary to develop roles and responsibilities for student members who are interested in promoting AHSRA
    • Create selection criteria to determine successful student PR applicants
    • Develop specific projects or initiatives for student PR officers to create content
    • Monitor Student PR Team and provide updates to the board
  • Sponsorship Support:
    • Assist in promoting sponsorship opportunities and recognizing sponsor contributions through PR channels.
  • Membership promotion:
    • Through engaging social media content, promote the AHSRA to potential members
  • Event Support:
    • Coordinate PR efforts at AHSRA events, including high school rodeo finals and district rodeos
    • Manage event photography and video coverage in collaboration with volunteers or hired professionals.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Build connections with sponsors, stakeholders, and the rodeo community.
    • Highlight the contributions of volunteers, sponsors, and members through spotlight stories and features.

Qualifications

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience in public relations, communications, or marketing is an asset but not required.
    • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
    • Basic knowledge of high school rodeo or a willingness to learn.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • A collaborative and enthusiastic attitude.
