πŸ’₯ Meet Your Student Executive β€” Emma Golden, District 2 President

We’re continuing our Why I Rodeo series, featuring AHSRA Student Executives who lead in and out of the arena.

This week we’re proud to introduce Emma Golden, your 2025–2026 District 2 President and a Grade 12 competitor who’s been part of AHSRA since junior high.

β€œI am in grade 12 and have been involved with AHSRA since grade 7, where I competed at my first junior high rodeo. My rodeo journey started when I was about 5 years old at the North Country Junior Rodeo Association, back when I trotted around the barrels and did goat tail untying. I became part of AHSRA because we knew that it was going to help me grow so much in my rodeo career and horsemanship, and without a doubt, it did.

I compete in breakaway roping, goat tying and team roping. Breakaway challenges me the most, and it’s also what I do the most.

It is my last year in AHSRA and I wanted to take on a leadership position. I appreciate being able to help people and be someone they can come to with questions. It also keeps it fun getting to work with the other student leaders, which I get to call my friends!

A trait about District 2 that makes me so proud to represent it is that over the years these D2 members became my β€˜family’. Rodeo family is like no other β€” they’ll do just about anything for you even if it comes with no return.

A moment in my AHSRA journey I’ll never forget is the day I made nationals. I was in the arena setting poles and they announced qualifiers, and I heard my name β€” not knowing I even had a chance.

My advice to younger members: bring optimism into every day and be willing to grow and learn new things with a positive mindset. The sky is the limit and you can do whatever you set your mind to!”

🀠 Thank you, Emma, for your leadership and for representing District 2 with such heart.

🐴 Meet Your 2025–2026 District 1 Junior High Executive!

District 1 Junior High covers a wide stretch of southern Alberta β€” and it takes an incredible team of volunteers to help guide our youngest competitors (Grades 5–8) as they grow in and out of the arena.

These are the parents, members, and mentors who show up rain or shine β€” the ones standing on the fence, cheering at the chutes, lending a hand, and keeping things running smoothly through every event.

Their commitment builds confidence, sportsmanship, and lifelong friendships within our youth rodeo family. πŸ’›

πŸ‘ Help us thank this outstanding group for the countless hours they give to make Alberta High School Rodeo such a positive experience for every junior high member.

πŸ’₯ Membership for the 2026 spring season is open until February 1st!
