important info

  • Members are responsible to follow all rules and policies set out by AHSRA – See the Rules Page
  • Members must sell raffle tickets and have them handed in by April 1st – See the Raffle Page
  • Members must have a signed rodeo release form in order to compete at a rodeo – See the Entries Page
  • Know your entry deadlines, no late entry is ever taken
  • Know the turnout policy – you will be fined if you do not turn out properly 
  • February 1 – Membership deadline 
  • March 1 – Report card deadline. All students must upload their most recent report card on their NHSRA member profile.   
  • April 1 – Raffle ticket deadline.  All members must have all tickets and money to their raffle ticket coordinator.  The address is located on the inside of each raffle ticket book. Failure to meet this deadline will result in disqualification from the provincial finals.** 
  • April 1 – Grade 12 scholarship deadline.

How to Enter

You must have an active NHSRA membership in order to enter a sanctioned AHSRA rodeo. There are two ways to enter. 

ONLINE ENTRIES

Online entries are done through EQuest Events. Entries typically open on Fridays, three (3) weeks prior to each rodeo, and remain open for 10 days.  

Your confirmation number will be stored on your profile.

CALL IN ENTRIES

Call ins are one night only, two Tuesdays before the rodeo date from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. If you need to make changes to your online entry, you must do it on call in night.

No late entries are ever accepted. 

entry FEES

Entry fees are paid at each rodeo when you arrive.

Entry fees for the 2023-2024 season are as follows:

Barrels and Poles I $25

Timed Stock events and Junior High Rough Stock I $35

High School Rough Stock I $60

FORMS REQUIRED

At each rodeo, contestant need to hand in a Parental Release Form with their parent’s signature.

Twice per year, contestants need to hand in a Principal’s Signature Form to the rodeo office. (Homeschooled students need to hand in a HomeSchool form.)

TURN OUT POLICY

All turnouts must be sent to Jamie Thorsteinson  at ahsraturnout@gmail.com. DO NOT TEXT OR CALL.

 

Entry Fees – If you turnout after entries close, you must pay your entry fees.  

Turnout Fines – Turnouts that are received less than 48 hours before the start of the first performance are subject to a fine of $60 per day (this does not include vet / medical releases). Turnouts that are submitted more than 48 hours prior to start of rodeo are not subject to fines. A turnout for bereavement is still considered a turnout – all fees and fines apply.

Vet Release – A vet note must be provided by Wednesday at 5:00pm following the rodeo that you vetted out. The vet note must state that the horse could not compete.

Medical Release – you need a note to medical back in if it was an injury. If it was the flu or illness then you need a doctor’s note stating you were too ill to compete. Medical notes must also be in by the Wednesday at 5:00pm following the rodeo. A doctor’s note is required in order to return to competition.

Graduates - Don't forget to claim your ASHRA scholarship money!
Scholarship payouts take place only 3 times per year. The first payout will be on October 15th - but you need to submit your documents before then to be included in this payout. Send an email to ahsraoffice@gmail.com with the following information:
- Proof of payment to post secondary school
- Scholarship certificate (if you have it)
- The address where you want the cheque sent

Entries for the fall season are opening soon and the AHSRA is using a new entry system called EQuest Event. This system is built and supported by the same people who created the NHSRA Membership system. 

Before you can enter rodeos, you will need to: 1. Create your EQuest Event account and 2. Link it to your NHSRA profile (You will need your NHSRA username and password so you can link it to your EQuest account.)
